US and China conclude first talks under new administration
The confrontation between US and China did not yield any diplomatic breakthrough. US and China are at odds over many issues including human rights in Tibet, Hong Kong and Taiwan; China's aggression in the South China Sea and the Covid-19 pandemic.
 
Additional accusation levelled at Cuomo
Eight women have accused Cuomo of sexual harassment or misconduct. Cuomo has consistently refused calls for resignation from most of the state's congressional delegation and two Senators.

An American intelligence report suggested that Putin had interfered in last November's presidential election in the US. US is expected to impose sanctions on Russia over the US intelligence report's conclusions.
 
Biden sued over Keystone pipeline cancellation
The pipeline was expected to transport 830,000 barrels of carbon-intensive heavy crude daily from Canada to Nebraska. Supporters of the pipeline said that it was a safe method to transport oil and would create American jobs.
 
White House facing concerns with border conditions
 Republicans blame President Biden for the surge after he rolled back a number of Trump-era immigration restrictions.  Biden’s immigration agenda includes allowing citizenship for 11 million undocumented immigrants.
 
Deadline removed from Equal Rights Amendment
The amendment says, "Equality of rights under the law shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any State on account of sex." Opponents of the amendment which was introduced in 1972, said that the time to ratify the amendment expired almost 40 years ago.
 
Surge in child border crossings
 According to Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, "(this is more) than we have in the last 20 years."  The number of migrants being stopped at the U.S.-Mexico border is on the rise since last April.
 
Biden: Cuomo should resign if harassments claims are true
 New York state Attorney General Letitia James named a team of lawyers to lead the probe into accusations against Governor Andrew Cuomo. Senators Chuck Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand have urged Cuomo to resign.
 
Two charged in assault on Capitol Police
George Tanios, 39 and Julian Khater, 32, were arrested on various charges, including assaulting a federal officer with a dangerous weapon and conspiracy.
