Former US President Donald Trump has won a straw poll at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) for the preferred Republican presidential nominee for the 2024 election. He won 62% of the vote.

During his CPAC speech, he said Republicans have changed irreversibly away from being the party of Bush-era Republicans.

Trump said the Republican party will not support those who want to fund and fight in endless wars overseas. He said him and his supporters will defeat warmongers. The former president added that veterans are homeless while illegal immigrants are housed in luxury hotels.

He questioned why NATO isn’t matching dollar-for-dollar with the US contribution to Ukraine. He claimed he can resolve the Russia-Ukraine war.

Trump said it was his administration which had the courage to take on the “corrupt political elite.” He highlighted disinformation in media, discussed his plans for his 2024 run, and his next potential tenure as president.
