Trump drops second lawsuit against New York Attorney General

Trump drops lawsuit against New York Attorney General Letitia James. Lawyers of both parties have jointly agreed to dismiss the appeal.

Where: New York

The Facts

Former president Donald Trump has voluntarily dropped a second lawsuit against New York Attorney General Letitia James. The lawsuit concerned her office’s financial fraud probe into his business practices.
In a filing, lawyers of both Trump and Letitia James said they jointly agreed to dismiss the appeal in the 2nd US Circuit Court of Appeals.
The Attorney General posted about the latest developments on Twitter: “As we have shown all along, we have a legitimate legal case against him and his organization, and we cannot be bullied or dissuaded from pursuing it.”
After looking into his various business ventures, James filed her $250 million suit against Trump, the Trump Organization, and three of his adult children in September for alleged fraudulent financial statements related to the company.
In December 2021, Trump countersued James seeking to block her from continuing her investigation by alleging that the attorney general was violating his constitutional rights.
This latest legal capitulation came less than a week after Trump was sanctioned nearly $1 million for filing a “frivolous” lawsuit against Hillary Clinton.
