Russian leaders warn West of global catastrophe

Vyacheslav Volodin, the speaker of the Duma (Russia’s lower house of parliament), warned that politicians who covered Kyiv’s preparations for war with Russia should be held accountable.
According to him, those leaders “plotted to start a world war with predictable consequences” and “they should be held accountable for their crimes.”
Dmitry Medvedev, Russia’s former PM and president, expressed that the defeat of Russia could lead to a nuclear war.
“Nuclear powers haven’t been defeated in major conflicts crucial for their destiny,” he added.
German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and French President Emmanuel Macron released a joint declaration reiterating that “Russia should and will not be successful with its illegal and unscrupulous war of aggression against Ukraine.”
Germany has been under heavy pressure to release Leopard 2 tanks to Ukraine. Germany’s foreign minister Annalena Baerbock said on France’s LCI TV that her government would not stand in the way if Poland wants to send its Leopard 2 tanks to Ukraine.
