Polish PM ready to send Leopard tanks to Ukraine without Germany’s approval. Although Germany remains reluctant to withdraw its veto, it says it would not block Poland from making the delivery.

Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki suggested that Poland is ready to send Leopard tanks to Ukraine, even without Germany’s consent. “We will ask Germany for permission … but this is of secondary importance,” said Morawiecki.
Berlin has come under heavy pressure to supply Ukraine with military aid after failing to make a decision at the U.S. military base of Ramstein in south-west Germany on Friday.
NATO allies pledged billions of dollars in weapons for Ukraine last week, but Germany remains reluctant to lift its veto on providing the tanks.
Germany appears to have tied its contribution to a U.S. move to send its Abrams tanks.
German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock said her government would not block Poland if it were to send its Leopard 2 tanks without German approval. She has not commented on whether the federal government would effectively approve an application allowing for the delivery of Leopard tanks from other countries to Ukraine.
