Hearing held on release of Georgia special grand jury report

Hearing held on whether to release special grand jury report investigating allegations against Trump. Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis: “it’s not appropriate at this time to have this report released”.

Where: Georgia

The Facts

A hearing was held in Atlanta on Tuesday to discuss whether to release a special grand jury report regarding former president Trump’s actions during the 2020 elections. The special grand jury in question had investigated allegations that Donald Trump had broken the law while attempting to overturn his 2020 election loss in Georgia.
A coalition of media organizations has argued for the release of the report. Meanwhile, prosecutors urged that the report remain under wraps until they decide whether or not to press charges.
Fulton County D.A. Fani Willis stated: “We want to make sure that everyone is treated fairly, and we think for future defendants to be treated fairly it’s not appropriate at this time to have this report released.”
Willis stated that the special grand jury had heard from 75 witnesses and noted that “decisions are imminent.”
Fulton County Superior Court Judge Robert McBurney stated he will reflect on the arguments made and make contact regarding any further questions before making his final decision.
