SCOTUS

Supreme Court halts end of Title 42 policy. Title 42 allowed the US to expel migrants.

Where: US

The Facts

On Monday, the Supreme Court temporarily paused the end of the Title 42 policy, which allows the US to expel migrants without the chance for asylum.
Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts ruled that the policy allowing the US to expel migrants at the southern border would remain in place.
The Trump-era policy was set to expire Wednesday.
Texas governor Greg Abbott said, “Texas and other states are insisting that the Court leave Title 42 in place. Today’s order is a step in that direction.”
The governor further added that the move would help prevent illegal immigration.
