Where: Cairo, Egypt
The Facts
British-Egyptian activist Alaa Abdel Fattah has stopped drinking water as he escalates his hunger strike in an Egyptian prison.
Fattah’s water strike coincided with the COP27 summit in Cairo as calls for his immediate release increased on Sunday.
Speaking to sky news, Fattah’s sister Sanaa Seif warned that her brother could die before the summit was over.
