On Monday, the Spanish coast guard found three Nigerian men on the rudder of a ship.
The stowaways had survived an 11-day journey from Lagos to Spain’s Canary Islands on the rudder of a chemical and oil tanker.
The Maltese ship Alithini II had arrived at Las Palmas Port in Gran Canaria after leaving Nigeria on November 17.
On Tuesday, the coast guard shared a photo of the three men perched on the ship’s rudder.
The coast guard tweeted that the three men were taken into the port and given medical services for symptoms of hypothermia and dehydration.
