Chinese authorities are imposing new restrictions as Covid infections appear to be steadily rising.
Beijing officials have shut schools, increased testing requirements, and placed restrictions on movement in and out of the city.
The National Health Commission of the People’s Republic of China stated, “On Nov 22, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 2,719 new cases of confirmed infections.”
The restrictions pose a new impediment to China’s economic recovery.
WHO Covid statistics reveal that “In China, from 3 January 2020 to 5:39 pm CET, 23 November 2022, there have been 9,523,014 confirmed cases of COVID-19 with 29,889 deaths, reported to WHO.”
