The Facts

New York City’s Mayor Eric Adams declared a state of emergency on Friday over the influx of migrants being sent from other states.
Mayor Adams also issued an executive order which will direct relevant agencies to coordinate efforts to construct humanitarian relief centers.
Adams stated, “This is a humanitarian crisis that started with violence and instability in South America and is being accelerated by American political dynamics.”
An estimated 17,000 asylum seekers have been sent on buses to New York City since April.
Outlining the needs of the migrants, Adams stated, ” Without the ability to work legally in this country, they need long-term shelter, health care, and a great deal of institutional support.”
