Where: Japan
The Facts
Japan has re-opened its borders to tourists, ending almost two-and-a-half years of strict Covid restrictions.
Visa-free entry has resumed for travelers from 68 nations and territories.
The Japan Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated, “On arrival COVID-19 testing is no longer required unless entrants and returnees have suspected COVID-19.”
All arrivals are, however, requested to provide a valid Covid vaccination certificate or a certificate of a negative test result.
The influx of travelers is expected to boost the Japanese economy. Several airlines have organized extra flights to Japan after the abolition of the 50,000 daily arrivals cap.
