Migrants flown to Martha’s Vineyard were shipped to Cape Cod. Joint Base Cape Cod is a designated emergency shelter.

Where: Massachusetts

The Facts

Approximately 50 migrants who were flown to Martha’s Vineyard, MA by Florida’s governor were transported to Joint Base Cape Cod (JBCC).
JBCC is already designated as an emergency shelter by the Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency.
Florida governor Ron DeSantis stated, “We are not a sanctuary state, and we will gladly facilitate the transport of illegal immigrants to sanctuary jurisdictions.”
A press release by the Baker-Polito administration stated, “The individuals and families will be housed in dormitory-style spaces at JBCC, with separate spaces accommodating both individuals and families. Families will not be separated.”
The Lawyers for Civil Rights group is investigating the manner in which the migrants were shipped to see if any laws were violated.
