The Facts
Migrants flown to Martha’s Vineyards last week have filed a class action lawsuit against Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis and other officials.
The undocumented migrants have alleged they had been provided misleading information promising them cash, employment, and housing assistance.
The nearly 50 migrants have alleged that the Florida officials had “manufactured” an “official-looking brochure”, filled with what they have deemed “bold-faced lies.”
In their complaint, they collectively accused DeSantis of using them as “pawns in a political stunt,” soon after they had escaped a humanitarian crisis in Venezuela.
Represented by Boston-based ‘Lawyers for Civil Rights’, the migrants claim they “suffered economic, emotional, and constitutional harms,” amounting to a minimum of $75000.
