The Facts
The Hong Kong government is ending formal quarantine for international travelers after strict pandemic controls which lasted more than two years.
A Government press release stated, “The Government announced on September 23 the lifting of compulsory quarantine requirement for inbound persons from overseas places or Taiwan starting from September 26, after analysing scientific data and striking a balance among factors such as transmission risks.”
The aim of the Government is to reduce inconvenience to inbound travelers and re-establish contact with the world.
Hong Kong enforced some of the world’s toughest rules in accordance with China’s zero Covid policies.
Cathay Pacific has been reported to have experienced high volume of traffic on its website after the announcement.
