On Monday, the US announced it had killed al-Qaeda top boss Ayman al-Zawahiri in Kabul in a CIA precision drone strike.
A former Egyptian surgeon, Zawahiri, had a $25M reward on his head for his involvement in coordinating the September 11, 2001 attacks.
Canadian PM Justin Trudeau said al-Zawahiri’s death had made the world a safer place.
He tweeted, “Canada will keep working with our global partners to counter terrorist threats, promote peace and security, and keep people here at home and around the world safe.”
Saudi foreign minister Farha Al Saud said, “Al-Zawahiri is considered one of the leaders of terrorism that led the planning and execution of heinous terrorist operations in the United States and Saudi Arabia.”
