Border Patrol finds boat carrying more than 300 Haitian migrants

The Facts

US Customs and Border Patrol (CBP) officials found more than 300 Haitians aboard a sailboat grounded near the Florida Keys on Saturday.
113 of those aboard were taken into Border Patrol custody.
Chief Patrol Agent Walter N. Slosar stated, “All 113 Haitian migrants were medically screened on scene. Two migrants were taken to a local area hospital for dehydration.”
Slosar stated, “The remaining migrants onboard the vessel (approx. 220) were safely transferred @USCGSoutheast cutter.”
The area off the Key Largo coast has recently been a common destination for migrant crossings from Haiti.
