Felixstowe Port workers embark on 8-day strike. Felixstowe is the UK’s biggest container port.
Where: Suffolk, England
The Facts
Almost 2,000 workers walked off the Port of Felixstowe on Sunday, kicking off an eight-day strike at UK’s largest container port.
Against the backdrop of rising inflation, the workers began their protest, having rejected a 10% pay hike for lower-paid workers.
The Port of Felixstowe stated that the company’s offer stood at 2% more than the country’s average.
Furthermore, it apologized for the strike’s projected impact on the UK’s supply chain.
The Port then added that it “provides secure and well-paid employment and there will be no winners from this unnecessary industrial action.”
