The Facts
Washington Mayor Muriel Bowser has requested 150 National Guard troops deployed in the city to manage the thousands of migrants arriving from Texas and Arizona on chartered buses.
Bowser does not have the power to personally order the deployment of the National Guard.
Texas Governor Greg Abbott and Arizona Governor Doug Ducey have been sending busloads of migrants to Washington DC in response to President Biden’s decision to stop an emergency health order that restricted migrants during the epidemic.
Charitable groups working to feed and shelter the migrants have been running out of resources.
Abbott stated, “D.C. is experiencing a fraction of the disastrous impact the border crisis has caused Texas.Mayor Bowser should stop attacking Texas for securing the border & demand Joe Biden do his job.”
