Artificial Intelligence used to predict protein structures
July 30, 2022
Scientists enabled to determine the shape of any protein. AlphaFold database of vital help to researchers.
Where: London, UK
The Facts
DeepMind, a London-based company, used artificial intelligence techniques to develop its AlphaFold network.
This will enable scientists to determine the 3-D shape of almost any protein known to science.
DeepMind stated, “Today in partnership with @emblebi, we’re releasing predicted structures for nearly all catalogued proteins known to science, which will expand the #AlphaFold database by over 200x – from nearly 1 million to 200+ million structures.”
Just a year since AlphaFold was released and open-sourced, it has been accessed by more than half a million researchers.
DeepMind states, “Our latest release, announced on 28 July, 2022, expands this database from nearly 1 million structures to over 200 million structures – including nearly all catalogued proteins known to science.”
