The Facts

On June 6th, US Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg announced that he had tested positive for COVID-19 and is experiencing mild symptoms.
Buttigieg tweeted, “I plan to work remotely while isolating according to CDC guidelines, and look forward to when I can safely return to the office and the road.”
Buttigieg is among at least 15 individuals who tested positive for COVID-19 after attending the Mackinac Policy Conference in MI last week.
The Detroit Regional Chamber, the Conference’s organizer, noted that all individuals who had tested positive said they were either asymptomatic or experiencing mild symptoms.
The Detroit Regional Chamber has stated that all 1,347 attendees and support staff had provided the required proof of vaccination or a negative COVID-19 PCR test report to attend the event.
