Sara Duterte, the daughter of outgoing Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte, has been sworn in as the country’s 15th vice president.
The inauguration took place on Sunday in Duterte’s hometown of Davao, where she is the outgoing mayor.
The ceremony comes a little less than two weeks before she assumes office on June 30.
President-elect Ferdinand Marcos Jr, Duterte’s running mate, will take his oath in Manila on June 30.
Duterte stated, “I’m not the best or the most intelligent person in the Philippines and the world, but nobody can beat the toughness of my heart as a Filipino,” in a speech after she took the oath of office with her parents standing next to her.
