Multiple PGA Tour players suspended over participation in Saudi-backed LIV Golf Series

The PGA Tour has suspended multiple players for participating in the breakaway Saudi-backed LIV golf series.
On Thursday, PGA Tour Commissioner Jay Monohan stated, “Their participation in the Saudi Golf League/LIV Golf event is in violation of our Tournament Regulations.”
The commissioner further asserted the organization’s stance on the issue, adding, “The same fate holds true for any other players who participate in future Saudi Golf League events in violation of our Regulations.”
The PGA Tour has suspended the 17 players who teed off in the first round of the LIV golf series at the Centurion Club north of London.
Among those suspended is six-time major champion Phil Mickelson who was returning from a self-imposed hiatus from golf at the LIV Invitational Series.
