Osprey crash in CA kills five US Marines

Five US Marines have died in an aircrash. The MV-22B Osprey involved was on a training mission.

The Facts

On June 9th, the US Marine Corps confirmed that five marines had died in an air crash in Southern California.
The accident, involving an MV-22B Osprey, occurred during a routine training mission near Glamis, CA on June 8th.
Major General Bradford J. Gering, Commanding General of the 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing stated, “We mourn the loss of our Marines in this tragic mishap. Our hearts go out to their families and friends as they cope with this tragedy.”
An investigation into the incident has commenced and efforts to recover the equipment are ongoing.
The Osprey, a project of Bell Helicopter Textron and Boeing, had previously been criticized for being unsafe.
