The Facts
On Wednesday, AZ inmate Frank Atwood was executed by lethal injection. Atwood was sentenced to death nearly 35 years ago for the murder of 8-year-old Vicki Lynne Hoskinson.
Vicki Lynne Hoskinson went missing in September 1984 in Tucson after leaving her home to drop off a birthday card in a nearby mailbox. Hoskinson’s body was found in the Tucson desert in April 1985.
Frank Atwood was convicted of Hoskinson’s murder in 1987; he was executed on Wednesday after the Supreme Court rejected his final appeal.
AZ Attorney General Mark Brnovich stated, “Today, Arizona spoke on behalf of 8-year-old Vicki Lynne Hoskinson.”
Atwood’s attorney, Joseph Perkovich, voiced a different opinion after the proceedings drew to a close: “The state of Arizona executed Frank Atwood despite lingering doubts about his guilt.”
