On Wednesday, President Joe Biden officially kicked off the 9th Summit of the Americas as he addressed regional leaders, civil society & private sector leaders at the Summit’s inaugural ceremony.
Biden noted that the Hemisphere’s leaders would launch the Los Angeles Declaration on Friday.
Biden stated, “The declaration represents a mutual commitment to invest in regional solutions that enhance stability, increase opportunities for safe and orderly migration through the region, and crack down on criminal and human trafficking who prey on desperate people.”
Biden also announced the “Americas Partnership for Economic Prosperity” agreement, aimed at driving the Western Hemisphere’s “economy recovery and growth.”
The agreement’s areas of focus include building more resilient supply chains, ensuring sustainable and inclusive trading practices, creating clean energy jobs, and advancing decarbonization and biodiversity.
