On Sunday, Shanghai announced steps for returning to normal life following a strictly enforced two-month Covid 19 lockdown.
Beijing has reopened parts of its public transport system and other key venues as case numbers dropped in the two cities.
Chinese state media has hailed the government’s zero-tolerance policy toward Covid 19 for having played the central role in arresting the spread of the virus.
Shanghai has instructed residents to present negative Covid 19 test results, no older than 72 hours, to access public venues and public transportation as the city “speeds up business resumption.”
Covid 19 testing requirements in Shanghai are expected to ease from June 1.
