Qantas to launch world’s longest non-stop commercial flight

The Facts
On Monday, Qantas announced its purchase of 12 Airbus A350-1000 aircraft.
The new aircraft will operate under “Project Sunrise” and are set to connect Sydney to London and New York by 2025.
These non-stop flights will be the longest in existence and may later include services from Melbourne.
Currently, Singapore Airlines operates the longest non-stop commercial flight from Singapore to New York, which covers 10,400 miles in under 19 hours.
Qantas chairman Alan Joyce said, “New types of aircraft make new things possible” and that “The A350 and Project Sunrise will make any city just one flight away from Australia.”
