The Facts

The NY Attorney General’s Office has launched an investigation into social media companies in relation to the Buffalo mass shooting incident that claimed the lives of ten and injured three.
Officials will look into social media companies and other online resources allegedly used by the shooter to live-stream, discuss, promote, and plot the mass shooting.
NY Attorney General Letitia James stated, “The fact that an individual can post detailed plans to commit such an act of hate without consequence, and then stream it for the world to see is bone-chilling and unfathomable.”
The Attorney General’s Office will investigate Twitch (owned by Amazon), 4chan, 8chan, and Discord, among others.
The NY Attorney General’s Office received a referral from NY Governor Kathy Hochul to conduct the investigation.
