The Facts
On Monday, the Biden-Harris administration announced that 20 internet providers have agreed to provide their services at a discount to millions of American families.
A White House release stated, “As part of the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, the President and Vice President worked with Democrats and Republicans to create the Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP), which allows tens of millions of American households to reduce their internet service costs by up to $30/month (or $75/month on Tribal lands).”
Experts estimate that the program will benefit 40% of households in the US.
President Joe Biden tweeted, “High-speed internet is not a luxury. It’s a necessity. But today, too many families simply can’t afford it.”
The Biden-Harris administration will also make comprehensive efforts to get ACP-eligible (Affordable Connectivity Program) households to take advantage of the new program.
