The Facts
This Wednesday, Beijing moved to shut down about 10% of the city’s subway stations as a preventative measure to cull the spread of Covid.
Approximately 158 bus routes have also been closed.
The economic costs incurred by the Chinese government for following a zero Covid strategy are continuing to mount.
Many cinemas, malls, and gyms have already shut down, with indoor dining also being brought to a halt.
Beijing is trying to avoid a Shanghai-type “sweeping” lockdown after said measures provoked grievances against the authorities.
