The Facts
According to officials, the last remaining civilians trapped in the Azovstal steel plant in Mariupol have now been rescued.
The Ukrainian fighters still present at the besieged Azovstal steel plant have vowed to fight till the end.
Meanwhile, a Russian airstrike on the village of Bilohorivka has hit a school and is believed to have killed around 60 villagers who had taken refuge there.
A statement from the United Nations reads, “The Secretary-General is appalled by the reported attack on 7 May which hit a school in Bilohorivka, Ukraine, where many people were apparently seeking shelter from the ongoing fighting. This attack is yet another reminder that in this war, as in so many other conflicts, it is civilians that pay the highest price.”
The Ukrainian Ministry of Defense responded to the event, stating, “Warβs most horrific moments are when πΊπ¦ civilians die at once.”
