The Facts

On Tuesday, Russia allegedly moved to suspend all deliveries of natural gas to Poland and Bulgaria.
According to energy officials of the two affected countries, Russia’s state-controlled gas company, Gazprom, had informed them that they would be halting deliveries starting Wednesday.
Poland and Bulgaria are both EU and NATO members. Both have accused Gazprom of violating its contracts.
Russia’s move comes roughly a month after Putin’s demand that “unfriendly countries” pay for Russian natural gas in rubles.
According to EU data, Poland and Bulgaria receive over 45% and 70% of their natural gas supply from Russia, respectively.
