Lithuania ceasing all Russian gas imports

On Saturday, Lithuania’s energy minister stated the country will no longer be importing Russian gas to meet its domestic needs.
Lithuania became the first country of the European Union’s 27 nations to break its energy dependence on Moscow.
Minister of Energy Dainius Kreivys stated, “We are the first EU country among Gazprom’s supply countries to gain independence from Russian gas supplies, and this is the result of a multi-year coherent energy policy and timely infrastructure decisions.”
On Saturday, Lithuanian President Gitanas Nauseda tweeted, “From this month on – no more Russian gas in Lithuania,” adding that there will be no more “energy ties with the aggressor”.
Nauseda added, “If we can do it, the rest of Europe can do it too.”
