Texas soldiers guilty of transporting undocumented immigrants
Fort Hood soldiers
Two soldiers sent to federal prison. Soldiers conspired to transport undocumented immigrants.
Where: Laredo, Texas
The Facts
Two US Army active-duty soldiers were ordered to federal prison on Friday for conspiring to transport undocumented immigrants.
Isaiah Gore, 21, and Denerio Williams, 22, stationed in Texas, pleaded guilty in December 2021.
The US District Judge, Marina Garcia Marmolejo, imposed a 30-month term of imprisonment for Gore and a 24-month stretch for Williams.
A US Attorney’s Office press release stated, “Judge Marmolejo noted that Gore and Williams, as soldiers in the Army, were “not the average citizen”, which justified a tougher sentence. Judge Marmolejo also emphasized that everyone involved in the scheme knew that wearing a uniform would assist in evading detection or arrest.”
Both of the accused were allowed to remain on bond and surrender voluntarily to a facility, which has yet to be determined.
