Shanghai is currently implementing a lockdown in two stages. Firstly, the Pudong New Area on the eastern bank of the Huangpu River will be under restrictions for four days from Monday.
The Puxi district on the western bank of Huangpu will then enter its own lockdown on Friday.
China’s zero-Covid policy is geared toward wiping out local outbreaks by incorporating stringent preventive measures.
In the wake of this lockdown, foreign residents in Shanghai have described people flooding the supermarkets to buy food.
Several thousand bankers, traders, and other professionals have ended up effectively living in their office towers in Shanghai as the city locks down.
