Where: Minneapolis

The Facts

Teachers in Minneapolis embarked on their first strike in over 50 years on Tuesday after negotiations with Minneapolis Public Schools proved fruitless.
The strikes mean that classes have been canceled for approximately 30,000 students in Minneapolis.
The Minneapolis Federation of Teachers president Greta Callahan stated, “We are going on strike tomorrow for the safe and stable schools our students deserve.”
Teachers’ unions and school district officials had been discussing proposed changes to salaries, hiring protocols, maximum class sizes, and the availability of mental health services for students.
After the negotiations stalled, Minneapolis Public Schools tweeted, “All PreK-12 grade and Transition Plus classes are canceled.”
