The Facts
Following a surge in Covid cases in the country, China has moved to shut down the Disney resort in Shanghai.
The resort announced, “Due to the current pandemic situation, Shanghai Disney Resort, including Shanghai Disneyland, Disneytown and Wishing Star Park will be temporarily closed from Monday, March 21, 2022.”
The announcement comes as China’s largest city, Shanghai, recorded 758 new Covid cases on Monday.
Despite their ‘zero tolerance’ policy against Covid, which incorporates strict measures, cases have surged in China.
City health official Wu Jinglei stated, “When it comes to the entire situation of epidemic control and prevention that we are facing, it is very complex and serious, and it is also a very big test for us.”
