The Facts
Tear gas was deployed in Paris, France, as protesters inspired by the Canadian Freedom Convoy demonstrated against France’s Covid regulations.
Police set up checkpoints and intercepted trucks and other vehicles trying to enter Paris as part of the protest.
Some convoys avoided police detection by traveling on local roads and avoiding highways.
Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin stated, “Thank you to the police and gendarmes mobilized this weekend across France, and in particular in Paris, to enforce the republican order and freedom of movement. In Paris, 337 verbalizations and 54 arrests.” (translated)
Protesters demonstrated against the vaccine pass that France rules require to enter restaurants and other public places.
