Efforts stepped up in Ottawa to clear protesters. Arrests made and vehicles towed away.

Where: Canada

The Facts

Police in Ottawa, Canada, increased efforts to end the protest by anti-vaccine mandate protesters.

Dozens of arrests were made, and vehicles towed away.

Protesters began blocking Ottawa’s streets last month in opposition to vaccine mandates and pandemic restrictions – since then, the protests have spread across the country.

Ottawa Police tweeted, “Protesters are assaulting officers, have attempted to remove officer’s weapons. All means of de-escalation have been used to move forward in our goal of returning Ottawa to it’s normalcy.”

Ottawa Police further stated, “There is a large police presence on Nicholas Street, protesters are being advised to leave immediately. Some protesters are surrendering and are being arrested. We ask protesters to remain peaceful and lawful.”
