On Monday, Australia fully opened its international borders for vaccinated travelers.
After spending two years in one of the world’s strictest lockdowns, Australia expects 50 international flights on Monday, with 27 touching down in Sydney.
Australian Tourism Minister Dan Tehan said, “It is a party out here, music playing, smiles on people’s faces, they will be dancing soon, I’m sure.”
Tourism is one of Australia’s biggest sectors, employing about 5% of the country’s workforce.
However, Australia’s $43 billion (USD) tourism industry was crippled after the country shut its borders in March 2020.
