Seven school districts in Virginia sued Governor Glenn Youngkin on Monday over his executive order making mask-wearing optional in public schools.
A governor’s office press release stated, “Governor Glenn Youngkin today announced updated guidelines for parents, educators, and schools per Executive Order 2, which creates a parental opt-out from mask mandates at both public and private schools in the Commonwealth.”
The school districts involved are Fairfax County Public Schools(the largest in Virginia), as well as Prince William County, Alexandria, Arlington, Falls Church, Hampton, and Richmond.
The lawsuit was filed by the school districts in the Circuit Court in Arlington County, VA.
Meanwhile, some students in Virginia were isolated from their mask-wearing classmates after their parents sent them to school without a mask.
