Quebec plans to tax the unvaccinated

On Tuesday, the premier of Quebec, Canada, announced that a health tax is planned to be imposed against those who are not vaccinated against Covid-19.

Premier Francois Legault stated, “Even though unvaccinated adults represent 10% of the population, they account for half of COVID hospitalizations in intensive care. It is a huge burden on our health care system.” (translated)

Legault further stated, “This is why we are examining the establishment of a health contribution payable by all adults who refuse, for non-medical reasons, to be vaccinated.” (translated)

Canada has been affected by a surge in Covid-19 cases that have added a burden to the healthcare sector.

The WHO Covid data reveals that, in Canada, there have been 2,539,930 confirmed cases of Covid-19, with 30,788 deaths to date.
