Where: World

The Facts

On Monday, Antonio Horta-Osorio resigned as Chairman of Credit Suisse, citing his own COVID-19 protocol violations as the catalyst for the decision.

British-Portuguese national Horta-Osorio had assumed his position barely eight months ago.

The 57-year-old stated, “I regret that a number of my personal actions have led to difficulties for the bank and compromised my ability to represent the bank internally and externally.”

Horta-Osorio’s resignation follows Credit Suisse’s recent string of troubles, which includes bad bets on hedge funds and an internal spying scandal.

Swiss national Axel Lehmann, who joined the bank in October, will replace Horta-Osorio as chairman.
