Protests in Brussels over COVID restrictions. Police use water cannons and tear gas.

Where: Brussels

The Facts

Roughly 50,000 protestors marched through Brussels, gathering in Cinquantenaire Park to protest the country’s COVID-19 restrictions.

Protestors from other European countries joined the march, angered at the country’s health pass and other pandemic restrictions.

The protestors were heard yelling “liberty” as they marched through the city.

A video showed protesters, clad in black, attacking a building used by the EU’s diplomatic services.

After their instructions over loudspeakers were ignored, Belgian police fired water cannons and tear gas in to disperse the crowd.
