Cathay Pacific cuts flight schedule

Cathay Pacific

Cathay Pacific cuts flight schedule. Two aircrew members no longer in service.

Where: Hong Kong

The Facts

Cathay Pacific made major cuts to the flight schedule, especially passenger and cargo services operating out of Hong Kong.

Cathay Pacific stated, “We are making further significant changes to our flight schedule, including cancellations of passenger flights to and from Hong Kong from now to tentatively the first quarter of 2022. We intend to operate a skeleton passenger flight schedule in January.”

The carrier blames the latest tightening of aircrew quarantine restrictions as a constraint for operating flights.

Two of Cathay’s aircrew tested positive for Covid following their return to Hong Kong and are no longer employed by the carrier.

Cathay Pacific stated, “As an immediate action, we will step up our compliance checks at overseas stations to ensure Cathay Pacific’s health and safety protocols are being strictly followed by aircrew during their layovers.”
