Canadian truckers head to Ottawa

Canadian truckers head to Ottawa. Over 50 vehicles mobilized over COVID-19 mandates.

Where: Canada

The Facts

On Friday, one of three Eastern Quebec groups of truckers and supporters of the “Freedom Convoy” with about 50 vehicles departed to Ottawa.

Truckers and supporters mobilized after the government imposed a vaccine mandate on truck drivers in mid-January on drivers who cross the US border.

Thousands of truckers are set to gather in Ottawa for a mass protest to call for an end of all COVID-19 restrictions.

However, the Canadian Trucking Alliance opposes the protest, stating that this is “not how disagreement with government policies should be expressed.”

The Ottawa police were out in force on Friday and are expected to maintain their presence on Saturday.
