US Navy locks down ship after crew test positive for Covid

Covid outbreak among vaccinated ship crew. US Navy warship pauses its deployment.

The Facts

US Navy combat ship, the USS Milwaukee, has halted its deployment following a Covid-19 outbreak among its fully vaccinated crew.

The ship departed on December 14th from Florida and was headed to the US 4th Fleet area of operation.

The Milwaukee is now in port at Naval Station Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.

Some of the sailors who were infected have been exhibiting mild symptoms. The number of infected people on the ship has not been revealed.

A US Navy press release stated, “The specific COVID variant has yet to be determined, and all the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidelines are being followed, including contact tracing and testing protocols.”
