More US states report Omicron variant

The Facts

Health authorities reported detection of six cases of the Omicron variant of Covid among Nebraska residents, only one of whom was vaccinated.

Governor Larry Hogan confirmed the first three cases of the Covid-19 Omicron variant in Maryland residents.

The Hawaii Department of Health has confirmed the first case of Omicron variant in an O’ahu resident who was previously infected with Covid-19 but was never vaccinated.

The WHO issued a technical paper that includes preparedness actions for member countries against the Omicron variant.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) states, “The recent emergence of the Omicron variant (B.1.1.529) further emphasizes the importance of vaccination, boosters, and general prevention strategies needed to protect against COVID-19.”
