France is tightening restrictions for travelers from the UK in a bid to control the spread of the Omicron variant.
In their foreign travel advice, the UK government state, “From Saturday 18 December, all those wishing to travel from the UK to France, regardless of vaccination status, will need to meet criteria defined by the French authorities that the travel is essential.”
Some lorry drivers and students will be permitted to travel.
The UK on Wednesday reported a record number of Covid cases since the start of the pandemic.
The validity of Covid tests will be reduced from 48 to 24 hours.
